Funeral
Repatriation.
Funeral repatriation from the UK to Romania and across Europe. We bring them home.
Repatriation, paperwork, and the funeral itself
Repatriation of the deceased, and of ashes
We collect, prepare and carry the deceased from anywhere in the UK to Romania and anywhere in the European Union, by road or by air. Ashes and urns cost less and travel faster.
- Collection from hospital, mortuary or funeral home
- Embalming to international transport standard
- Coffin built for the journey
- Road or air, whichever is quicker
- Usually 5 to 10 working days
- Handover to the funeral home at the destination
Paperwork, permits and consular authorisation
We deal with each office ourselves. Nothing moves until every permit is in order, and the price does not change after you have agreed it.
- Medical examiner or coroner sign-off, whichever the death needs
- Death certificate from the registrar
- The coroner's notice before a body may leave England and Wales, or the Procurator Fiscal's consent in Scotland
- Embalming and freedom-from-infection certificates
- Consular authorisation from the destination
- Price agreed in writing
Every case runs under UK law and the law of the country we are taking them to. If a permit is missing, the transport waits. We will tell you that rather than move without it.

The funeral itself, here or at home
Not every family repatriates. If you are staying in the UK, we arrange the funeral in the London area. If you are going home, we make sure the funeral home there is ready before the deceased arrives.
- Burial or cremation in the London area
- Care of the deceased and chapel of rest
- Coffins, cortege and flowers
- Coordination with the funeral home at the destination
Prices, timing and what we cover
What it costs
Asking what it would cost is free. The figure we give you on the first call goes to you in writing, and it does not change once you have agreed it.
How long it takes
- 2 hours
- A consultant calls you back with a price. Nights and bank holidays included.
- 5 to 10 working days
- The usual case, from collection in the UK to the funeral home at the destination.
- Ashes
- No embalming and fewer documents, so an urn travels sooner and costs less.
- Urgent cases
- If a date is already set at home, tell us on the first call. Those cases are moved first.

- Other routes
- Italy, Spain, Germany, France, Belgium and Austria, including journeys where neither country is the UK.

- If the family is not repatriating, we arrange the burial or cremation in the London area.

"Bringing someone home is the last thing a family can do for them. We treat it that way."
Alexandra Owner, Funerals LTD
A British company,
based in London
We work in one field: funeral repatriation. For over 15 years we have brought people home from the United Kingdom to Romania, and on to Italy, Spain, Germany, France, Belgium, Austria and the rest of the European Union, by road and by air.
Being based here matters. The paperwork that holds a repatriation up is British paperwork: the medical examiner's scrutiny or the coroner's involvement, the registrar's death certificate, the notice a coroner must receive before a body may leave England and Wales, and the consular authorisation from the destination country. We are not an agent passing your case to a firm abroad. We go to those offices ourselves, and we explain each step to your family in Romanian.

Questions we are asked most
How long does repatriation take?
Usually 5 to 10 working days, depending on which documents already exist and where the deceased is going. Urgent cases can be moved faster, so call us and we will tell you what is possible.
How much does repatriation from the UK to Romania cost?
From £2,095 for our ECO package. The final price depends on the destination and the services you choose. Use the quote tool for an estimate, or call us for a free quote.
What documents are required?
The death certificate, the notice a coroner must receive before a body may leave England and Wales (in Scotland, the Procurator Fiscal's consent), certificates of embalming and freedom from infection, and the consular authorisation from the destination country. You give us the deceased's ID or passport; we get the rest, so you are not the one ringing round offices.
Are you available at weekends and at night?
Yes. We answer 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, including public holidays.
Can you also transport ashes?
Yes. We carry both the deceased and urns with ashes, with the import formalities the destination requires. Ashes cost less and travel faster.
Do you work with hospitals and mortuaries in the UK?
Yes. We have working relationships with hospitals, coroner services and funeral homes across the United Kingdom, and can collect directly from the hospital or mortuary.
